Greetham Community Centre Refurbishment – Submission for S106 funding
Decision Maker: Strategic Director for Places
Decision status: Recommendations Approved
Is Key decision?: No
Is subject to call in?: No
Purpose:
Greetham Community Centre have requested S106
funding to support improvements to the community centre to improve
existing facilities to ensure that the facilities are inclusive and
meet the needs of the local community into the future. They have
identified necessary improvements to the Community Centre
facilities so that they can expand the activities for the
community.
Improvements will be funded in part from their own resources and
from the Parish Council and from grant funding applications. The
total cost of the works is just under £50,000. The Community
Centre has already secured a time limited grant for £20,182
which leaves a shortfall of £27,707.
RCC funding would be from remaining S106 funds currently held by
the Council from development which has taken place within the
parish and which was specifically sought for sport, recreation and
leisure facilities, specifically indoor facilities.
The proposed changes and a cost breakdown for the works are set out
in detail in the attached appendix. In summary these include
:
• improvements to Meeting/Recreational Accommodation
• Improved and Additional Storage Facilities
• External Works to expand outdoor activies/facilities
Decision:
To support the project with the sum of
£27,707 from S106 contributions.
Following the decision £ £27,707 will remain allocated
to this project for an 18 month period. The transfer of funds will
be subject to the receipt of a project plan and confirmed start
date for the works.
Alternative options considered:
Option 1 - To support the project with the sum
of £27,707 from S106 contributions.
Option 2 - To not support funding for this project.
There is funding available from unspent S106 agreements and no
other project coming forward to take advantage of this at present.
There is a risk that unspent S106 monies would need to be re-paid
to developers in due course.
