To put in place contract extensions for three
of the principle waste contracts
With the advent of the Covid restrictions there was insufficient
time available to be able to successfully complete retendering
prior to existing contract expiry. The proposal achieves a common
expiry date then allowing for a holistic retendered contract to run
from 1st April 2024. This is beneficial at a number of levels. This
also will allow essential work relating to the review of the
Council’s waste strategy and associated options appraisal to
take place.
The above existing contracts have varying
expiry dates, FCC expiring 31st March 2021, the others on 31st
March 2022. The proposal achieves the extension of all contracts to
a common termination date of 31st March 2024. The detailed terms of
the contract extensions are as set out in the attached confidential
appendix A (that was reported to council on 9th November
2020)
Do not renew -this was not a realistic
proposition given the expiry dates of the contracts
Seek alternative suppliers-thorough investigation was undertaken in
his respect. It was not possible to source alternatives that were
financially attractive and/or achievable from a procurement
compliance perspective
