Additional Information
Steve is retired and has lived in Oakham since 2013. He moved here after his first wife died leaving him two stepsons, grown-up grandchildren and two great-grandchildren. Through his second wife Angela he now has another extended family.
Steve's career has been very varied, first working in electronics and chemistry labs, then after university in local government admin, for a National Park, and most recently as a university lecturer. There he taught systems analysis and project management, co-authored a successful academic textbook, was course leader on undergraduate and masters programmes, and supervised PhD students.
Always interested in politics, Steve has only recently taken an active interest, spurred mainly by rising social inequality and threats to the environment and climate. Newly elected to Rutland County Council in 2023, his primary policy interests are in housing (especially affordable housing), social care, and the environment.
Steve's main leisure interests are music (he plays bass guitar with a number of local groups), travel, and hiking.
